COAS & CDF Visits Bahawalpur Garrison, Witnesses High-Intensity Field Exercise and Inaugurates Educational & Digital Initiatives

Rawalpindi, 29 January 2026(Kamran Raja): Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, visited Bahawalpur Garrison, where he was briefed on various operational, training and administrative aspects of the Corps, with special emphasis on preparedness for multi-domain warfare. During the visit, the COAS & CDF witnessed a high-intensity field exercise titled “Steadfast Resolve” at Khairpur Tamewali (KPT). The exercise showcased the integration of niche and emerging technologies, including unmanned aerial systems (drones), advanced surveillance assets, electronic warfare capabilities, and modern command-and-control mechanisms, reflecting the Armed Forces’ focus on technology-enabled multi-domain operations.

Addressing the troops, the COAS & CDF lauded their high morale, professional competence and operational preparedness. He reaffirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against all threats, while underscoring the importance of maintaining optimum readiness to meet future battlefield and security challenges. Highlighting the evolving character of war, the COAS & CDF noted that rapid technological advancements are driving fundamental changes in the conduct of military operations. He emphasized that future conflicts will increasingly rely on technological manoeuvres rather than purely physical ones, necessitating a significant mental and doctrinal transformation at all levels. In this context, he stated that the Pakistan Armed Forces are rapidly embracing and absorbing advanced technologies, with innovation, indigenisation and adaptation remaining central to this transformation process. Earlier, the COAS & CDF inaugurated the ROHI eSkills Learning Hub (STP), aimed at promoting digital skills and expanding learning opportunities for students, particularly from Southern Punjab and across the country. He also inaugurated the APS Abbasia Campus, reaffirming the Pakistan Army’s commitment to quality education and character building.

The COAS & CDF later visited the EME Regional Workshop, where he was briefed on maintenance regimes designed to sustain modern platforms through advanced technologies, indigenisation and other combat support measures. Upon arrival at Bahawalpur Garrison, the COAS & CDF was received by the Commander Bahawalpur Corps. He laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha, paying tribute to the supreme sacrifices of the martyrs.
