WAH, 29 August, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited the Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF) in Wah and reviewed its defence production capabilities, export potential and ongoing indigenisation efforts, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday. According to ISPR, the visit focused on assessing POF’s production capacity and its contribution to strengthening Pakistan’s defence industrial base. During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir was briefed on various aspects of POF’s operations and its role in strengthening national defence through the indigenous development and production of a wide range of military equipment. The CDF also witnessed tests and trials of locally designed and manufactured arms and ammunition. ISPR said the trials reflected POF’s efforts to promote innovation, self-reliance and technological advancement in the country’s defence production sector. Field Marshal Munir was also briefed on progress regarding the corporatisation process following the enactment of the Defence Industrial Production and Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DIPRA) Ordinance. The army chief was further apprised of ongoing indigenisation and modernisation initiatives, including the installation of two new industrial plants. The plants are expected to commence production by the end of the current year. The visit reaffirmed the military’s commitment to strengthening self-reliance, indigenous defence production and technological innovation while enhancing Pakistan’s defence industrial capabilities, ISPR said.
