MUZAFFARABAD, 28 August, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Newly elected Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Iftikhar Gilani has taken oath of office, with Acting AJK President Chaudhry Tariq Farooq administering the oath during a ceremony in Muzaffarabad. Addressing the AJK Legislative Assembly following the oath-taking ceremony, Prime Minister Iftikhar Gilani expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for their support. He also thanked the party leadership and members of the assembly for expressing confidence in him and entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the government. Iftikhar Gilani said collective efforts and cooperation among all stakeholders would be essential to transform Azad Kashmir into a model of development and prosperity. He pledged that his government would work for the welfare and betterment of the people of AJK, seeking the support and cooperation of all members of the Legislative Assembly to achieve its development objectives.
