Israeli forces fire tear gas at Palestinian schoolchildren as West Bank attacks surge

RAMALLAH, 02 November, 2026 (Nosheen): Dozens of Palestinian students and teachers suffered suffocation after Israeli forces fired tear gas towards a school in the occupied West Bank, as Israeli forces and settlers intensified attacks and blocked several roads across the territory. According to local officials, the incident took place in Al-Mughayyir village, east of Ramallah, where medical teams treated those affected while Civil Defence crews cleared tear gas from classrooms. Separately, Israeli settlers blocked roads near Haris and Kifl Haris towns and along the Wadi Qana route linking Salfit and Qalqilya, while burning tyres and placing stones on roads, disrupting traffic and access to Al-Zaytoonah University of Science and Technology. In another incident, settlers reportedly stole around 90 goats from the Salhab area in the northern Jordan Valley. The Palestinian Colonisation and Wall Resistance Commission said Israeli settlers carried out 1,369 attacks across the West Bank in October, an increase of 111.6 per cent compared with September. It added that Israeli forces and settlers collectively carried out 3,133 attacks during the month, marking a 52.8 per cent rise, with Israeli forces responsible for 1,764 incidents. Meanwhile, Israeli forces arrested six Palestinians during raids in Nablus, Ramallah and Hebron, including journalist Samer Khuwaira, who was rearrested after a raid on his home. Palestinian figures say more than 1,220 Palestinians have been killed, around 13,350 injured and over 26,000 arrested in the West Bank since October 2023, as Israeli military operations and settler attacks continue to intensify.
