ISLAMABAD, 1 November, 2026 (Nosheen): Iranian representatives are holding another round of negotiations with Qatari mediators in Doha as diplomatic efforts continue to find a way to end the US-Israeli war against Iran. A source familiar with the discussions told Reuters that the talks entered their third consecutive day on Sunday, following consultations between Qatari officials and Iranian authorities in Tehran earlier in the week. The negotiations are taking place amid concerns that hostilities could intensify after the November 3 US midterm elections. US President Donald Trump has indicated that Washington will refrain from launching fresh attacks against Iran before the vote and described contacts with Tehran as productive, while leaving open the possibility of further military action afterward. Iran has warned that any renewed attack would trigger retaliatory strikes against US and Israeli targets in neighbouring countries. The conflict, which has continued for eight months, has also disrupted global oil supplies and contributed to instability across the Middle East. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei directed the armed forces on Saturday to remain prepared for any potential attack, while the Iranian military subsequently announced steps to enhance its readiness. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Trump had not reached a decision on whether to launch further strikes against Iran but preferred resolving the conflict through diplomacy. The Qatari-led discussions are being conducted in coordination with regular contacts with Washington, according to the official, reflecting continued efforts to prevent further escalation and achieve a diplomatic settlement.
