LAHORE, 31 October, 2026 (Nosheen): Pakistan’s left-handed opener Fakhar Zaman has joined the elite group of Pakistani batters to score 4,000 runs in One-Day International cricket, achieving the landmark during the ODI Tri-Series final against Sri Lanka in Lahore on Saturday. Fakhar entered the match with 3,892 runs from 97 ODIs and needed 108 runs to reach the milestone. He completed the achievement while contributing to Pakistan’s pursuit of Sri Lanka’s challenging 327-run target. Before the final, the 36-year-old had maintained an impressive batting average of 43.73 since making his ODI debut against the West Indies in March 2017. Fakhar has established himself as one of Pakistan’s leading limited-overs batters and is widely remembered for his match-winning 114-run innings against India in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy final, which helped Pakistan claim their first title in the tournament. He also holds the distinction of scoring an unbeaten 210 against Zimbabwe in 2018, his highest individual score in ODI cricket.
