ISSI, Jordan’s Arab Thought Forum Explore Strategic Dialogue and Joint Research Cooperation

ISLAMABAD, October 20, 2026(Ghufran): The Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) and Jordan’s Arab Thought Forum (ATF) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening institutional cooperation, expanding policy dialogue, and promoting joint research on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The bilateral meeting, organised by ISSI’s Centre for Afghanistan, Middle East and Africa (CAMEA), focused on identifying practical avenues for sustained collaboration under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the two institutions in October 2025.

Ambassador Moin ul Haque, Director General ISSI, underscored the longstanding fraternal relations between Pakistan and Jordan, noting that Jordan holds a special place in the hearts of the Pakistani people. He highlighted the close ties between the two countries and their continued engagement at the highest levels, stressing the importance of enhanced cooperation on regional developments, particularly in the Middle East, which remain a shared concern for the Muslim world.

Dr. Amani Ghazi Jarrar, Secretary General of the Arab Thought Forum, appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in the region and emphasised the need to establish a Pakistan–Arab strategic dialogue to strengthen political engagement, deepen mutual understanding, and advance cooperation on regional and international challenges.

She outlined key areas for collaboration, including promoting human dignity and shared security, strengthening intellectual and institutional engagement, advancing strategic foresight and forecasting to address emerging regional challenges, and translating shared objectives into tangible outcomes through collaborative research and policy-oriented initiatives.

The participants also discussed the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, emphasising that both issues are fundamentally rooted in the rights, aspirations, and political will of the people concerned and extend beyond territorial disputes.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Amina Khan, Director CAMEA, along with other colleagues from the Centre. The discussions reflected the shared commitment of ISSI and ATF to deepening institutional ties and fostering constructive policy engagement on issues of common concern.
