Abhishek Sharma Sets World Record for Fastest 2,000 T20I Runs by Balls Faced

India, 12 October, 2026 (Ghufran): Indian opening batter Abhishek Sharma has set a new world record by becoming the fastest player to score 2,000 runs in Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket in terms of balls faced. Sharma reached the milestone in just 1,024 balls, surpassing former Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav, who required 1,164 balls to achieve the same feat. The record was set during the third T20I against the West Indies in Indore, where Sharma delivered an aggressive performance, scoring 69 runs off just 30 balls. He also completed his half-century in only 18 balls, putting the West Indies bowlers under significant pressure. Sharma’s remarkable achievement highlights his explosive batting style and growing impact in international T20 cricket. In the list of players who have reached 2,000 T20I runs in the fewest balls, Austria’s Karanbir Singh holds third place, followed by Australia’s Aaron Finch in fourth and the United Arab Emirates’ Muhammad Waseem in fifth.
