RIYADH, 12 October, 2026 (Ghufran): A Pakistani national was killed and 11 people were injured in a projectile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) confirmed. According to a statement issued by the aviation authority, the injured were immediately shifted to hospitals for medical treatment. The attack also caused material damage to airport facilities, prompting authorities to assess the extent of the damage and inspect the safety of airport infrastructure. Saudi authorities further reported that a missile fired by Houthi rebels had been intercepted in the air. The latest incident came a day after another reported strike on Riyadh airport killed 12 people and injured more than 300. The Saudi-led coalition attributed the earlier attack to Yemen’s Houthi group, which has claimed responsibility for strikes targeting Saudi facilities. The repeated attacks have raised serious security concerns around the kingdom’s main international airport, while authorities continue damage assessments and safety inspections amid disruptions to airport operations. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over reports of Pakistani casualties in the attack. In his message, the prime minister prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and said that Pakistan’s embassy in Riyadh was in close coordination with Saudi authorities and providing all possible assistance to the affected families.
