
ISLAMABAD, 1 October, 2026 (Ghufran): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired the 7th meeting of the Steering Committee on Wheat Imports for Food Year 2026–27. The committee reviewed progress on wheat import arrangements and directed the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) to proceed with the acceptance of the lowest bid or bids for procuring the remaining 185,000 metric tons of Sindh’s wheat requirement. The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister also directed the governments of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to promptly arrange the required payments and complete tripartite agreements with TCP to ensure timely execution of the import process. He emphasized that the wheat imports would help ensure adequate supplies at reasonable prices and provide maximum relief to the people. The meeting was attended by the Minister for National Food Security and Research, Sindh Minister for Food, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Secretary Commerce, Managing Director PASSCO, relevant provincial secretaries, and senior officials from the Ministry of National Food Security and Research and TCP.
