New York, 25 September, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The two ministers reviewed progress on the implementation of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement and discussed regional and international security issues. They reviewed progress towards establishing the institutional structures under the agreement, including the General Secretariat, committees and working groups, as well as preparations for commencing its operations. The ministers strongly condemned the attacks targeting Makkah and civilian and economic facilities in Saudi Arabia. They commended the vigilance and capabilities of the Saudi Armed Forces in safeguarding the Kingdom’s security and affirmed Saudi Arabia’s right to take measures it deems appropriate for its security in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
