KYIV, 21 September 2026 (Ghufran): An overnight Russian drone attack on Ukraine’s Kyiv region killed four people, including three children, Ukrainian authorities said on Sunday, as drone strikes continued across Kyiv and surrounding areas throughout the day. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported one person injured in the capital, while drone fragments fell in several districts. Outside Kyiv, a mother and her two three-year-old children were killed when a Russian drone struck a private home, while another girl died in hospital following a separate drone attack in the region, according to Ukrainian officials. Kyiv region Governor Tymur Tkachenko said the area had endured more than a day of attacks, with the southwestern Fastiv district suffering the most damage as more than 24 sites, including homes, industrial and utility buildings, an agricultural enterprise and vehicles, were hit. In Sumy, Russian forces struck near an apartment building, killing one person and injuring another. In Kramatorsk, local officials said one person was killed during several rounds of shelling. Moldova’s Foreign Ministry also condemned what it described as an overnight drone intrusion north of the capital Chisinau. Russia did not acknowledge the reported strikes.
