
ISLAMABAD, 15 September, 2026 (Ghufran): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to utilise all available resources to provide relief to people in rain-hit areas and maintain effective coordination with relevant provincial departments and Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs). During a meeting with NDMA Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, who called on him in Islamabad, the prime minister directed concerned departments to strengthen coordination to ensure smooth traffic flow on link roads and bridges and timely supply of relief goods during the ongoing monsoon season. The NDMA chairman briefed the prime minister on the expected pattern of the monsoon season and overall preparedness to deal with heavy rains and possible flood situations through coordinated efforts among provinces and institutions. He said proactive measures had been taken by relevant departments, in accordance with the prime minister’s directives, to monitor the monsoon season effectively. He further assured that all relevant departments across the country were fully prepared to carry out rescue and relief operations in case of any emergency weather situation.
