China and Pakistan celebrate 75 years of diplomatic ties with Gala Concert at Great Wall

BEIJING, 07 September, 2026 (Kamran Raja): China and Pakistan marked the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations with a spectacular gala concert held against the illuminated backdrop of the historic Badaling Great Wall. The 2026 Beijing International Great Wall Concert, themed “An Ode to Ironclad Friendship,” featured traditional Chinese melodies and Pakistani Sufi Qawwali, highlighting the deep cultural and artistic bonds between the two countries. Jointly organized by the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing and the China International Cultural Communication Center (CICCC), with support from the People’s Government of Yanqing District, the event brought together senior diplomats, former Pakistani foreign secretaries and ambassadors, Chinese dignitaries and artists. Welcoming the guests, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi highlighted the historic significance of the venue, noting that the section of the Badaling Great Wall between Watchtowers 6 and 7 was restored in 1989 with the support of the Government of Pakistan. Ambassador Hashmi said music gives voice to emotion while dance gives it form and movement, adding that together they transform cultural heritage from something remembered into something experienced. The concert served as a vibrant expression of the enduring friendship and cultural affinity between Pakistan and China, complementing their long-standing diplomatic and economic partnership.
