LONDON, 30 August 2026 (News Desk): Pakistan opening batter Imam-ul-Haq is unlikely to feature in the remainder of the ongoing Lord’s Test against England after suffering a calf injury. According to Cricinfo, scans revealed that Imam has sustained a Grade 1 tear in his left calf. The left-handed batter has been advised to rest for 10 days following the assessment. Imam was forced off the field after tea on the opening day, with Salman Ali Agha coming on as his substitute. Due to the injury, Imam was unable to bat in Pakistan’s first innings, as the visitors were bowled out for just 110 runs in fewer than 38 overs in reply to England’s 290. Following the injury, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said Imam’s participation would depend on his recovery. Pakistan pacer Mohammad Ali also refrained from providing details about Imam’s condition after the close of play on the third day. Speaking to reporters, he said he was aware of the batter’s status but added that the team’s medical panel was better placed to comment on the matter. Imam-ul-Haq had also suffered discomfort in his calf during the first Test at Headingley, which Pakistan lost by an innings and 103 runs. He was batting on 42 when he first felt the discomfort. The opener had shared a 91-run partnership with Abdullah Shafique for the third wicket, but Pakistan subsequently collapsed and were dismissed for 171. Imam’s expected absence from the remainder of the Lord’s Test is another setback for Pakistan, who have struggled significantly with the bat during the series. The third and final Test of the series is scheduled to begin in Birmingham on September 9, giving Imam sufficient time to recover from his calf injury.
