LAHORE, 30 August, 2026 (News Desk): The first trailer of the upcoming Pakistani film IJ: The Secret Parchment, based on the iconic fictional detective Inspector Jamshed created by renowned writer Ishtiaq Ahmed, has been released. The film stars prominent actors including Ahmed Ali Akbar and Umair Rana and brings the much-loved characters from Ishtiaq Ahmed’s famous detective novels to the big screen. The trailer offers a glimpse into a mysterious case involving Inspector Jamshed and his family, featuring elements of suspense, danger, investigation and action. The story revolves around a mysterious parchment whose secrets lead to a series of questions and unexpected developments. For generations of readers who grew up with Ishtiaq Ahmed’s detective novels, Inspector Jamshed remains a memorable and beloved fictional character. Bringing these characters to the screen for Pakistani as well as international audiences is being described as a distinctive effort to introduce a popular part of Pakistan’s literary heritage to global cinema. Executive Producer Muhammad Adnan Butt said Inspector Jamshed is “our own hero” and the project aims to introduce the character to audiences around the world. He said it was a matter of pride to bring the imaginative world created by Ishtiaq Ahmed decades ago into a modern cinematic format. Screenwriter Eric Berg said Inspector Jamshed was no longer limited to the audience of a single country and could appeal to viewers around the world. Director Fahad Noor said the film combines espionage and action with family dynamics and human emotions. The film features Umair Rana as Inspector Jamshed, Ahmed Raza Mir as Behzad, Faran Tahir as Zarfar Barki, Asif Raza Mir as Khan Rehman and Jad Hadid as Inspector Ikram. Anoushay Abbasi plays Mrs Jamshed.The international cast includes Orly Shuka, Casey Shannon, Ahmad Harqous, Alain Harqous and Raoul Imran. The film was shot in the United Arab Emirates, with George Kirby handling the action direction. Fahad Noor has directed the project. The production brings together Pakistani and international actors and technical experts to present one of Pakistan’s best-known fictional detective characters through a contemporary global cinematic approach.
