LONDON, 28 August, 2026 (Ghufran): Pakistan and the United Kingdom have agreed to further expand bilateral cooperation across a range of sectors, with regional security, the Indus Waters Treaty and the situation in the Middle East among the key issues discussed during high-level talks in London. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held delegation-level talks with the British Foreign Secretary in London. During the meeting, the British side appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts and its role in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East. The two sides also exchanged views on the regional security situation and the Indus Waters Treaty. Ishaq Dar expressed concern over what he described as India’s continued violations of its international obligations. The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the security challenges Pakistan faces due to terrorism emanating from Afghanistan and conveyed Islamabad’s concerns over the threat. Separately, Ishaq Dar met British National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell in London, where he reaffirmed that Pakistan would continue its diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and working towards mutually acceptable solutions to regional disputes.The meetings underscored Pakistan and Britain’s resolve to broaden bilateral engagement and strengthen cooperation on matters of mutual interest while continuing dialogue and diplomatic efforts to promote regional peace and stability.
