Islamabad, 14 August 2026(Nosheen): Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has commenced celebrations to mark Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with traditional enthusiasm and patriotic spirit, extending the festivities from airports to the skies.
As part of the celebrations, PIA counters and offices at major airports across the country have been beautifully decorated with national flags, green-and-white decorations and decorative lights.
A competition for the best Independence Day decoration was also organized among PIA offices to encourage greater participation and national spirit among employees.
The national airline arranged special activities for passengers during flights, including Independence Day cake-cutting ceremonies. National flag badges and small flags were distributed among passengers, while special announcements were made during flights to mark the occasion.
Passengers were also served pastries decorated with the Pakistani national flag as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
The central Independence Day ceremony was held at the PIA Head Office in Islamabad, where Chief Executive Officer PIA, Air Vice Marshal Aamir Hayat, hoisted the national flag.
The national flag was presented with a salute by PIA employees, while senior airline officials, scouts and staff members participated in the ceremony.
A special Independence Day cake was cut amid the rendition of national songs, adding to the patriotic atmosphere.
A commemorative sapling was also planted on the occasion as a symbol of hope, growth and a prosperous future for Pakistan.
Similar flag-hoisting ceremonies and cake-cutting events were held at PIA offices across Pakistan to mark the national day.
The PIA spokesperson said that the entire PIA team extends warm greetings to the people of Pakistan on the occasion of the country’s 79th Independence Day.
