Peshawar, 13 August 2026(Kamran Raja): Advisor to the China Cultural Center in Pakistan Ms. Bai Jie and Director of the Pak-China Cultural & Economic Progress Welfare Organization Chen Tiantang visited China Window in Peshawar and appreciated its sustained efforts to promote Chinese culture, strengthen Pakistan-China friendship and expand people-to-people contacts between the two countries.
During the visit, the Chinese delegation toured various galleries of China Window and was briefed on its cultural, educational and public diplomacy initiatives. The guests took particular interest in programs designed to introduce Pakistani youth to Chinese culture, language, history and the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China.
Ms. Bai Jie and Chen Tiantang expressed their appreciation for the diverse activities undertaken by China Window, describing it as a vibrant platform for promoting cultural understanding and closer people-to-people relations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
They observed that institutions such as China Window could play an important role in translating the strong Pakistan-China strategic partnership into deeper social and public-level connections. They stressed that direct interaction between citizens of the two countries could contribute significantly to mutual understanding and lasting friendship.
During discussions, the two sides exchanged views on initiating reciprocal cultural exchange visits between citizens of Pakistan and China. The Chinese guests welcomed the proposal and agreed that interaction among ordinary citizens, students, professionals, academics, cultural representatives and civil society members could open new avenues for cooperation.
China Window offered to take the first practical step by hosting a small delegation of Chinese citizens in Pakistan. Under the proposed initiative, China Window would facilitate the delegation’s accommodation, meals, local transportation and a comprehensive program of cultural, educational and recreational activities.
The proposed visit would also provide Chinese guests with opportunities to interact with Pakistani students, academics, professionals, journalists and representatives from different sectors. The delegation would further be introduced to Pakistan’s historical, cultural and tourist attractions, enabling participants to gain first-hand experience of Pakistani society, hospitality and cultural traditions.
It was agreed in principle that people-to-people exchanges should be reciprocal rather than one-sided, and that Pakistani delegations should also be encouraged to visit China under similar cultural and educational exchange initiatives in the future.
Both sides expressed confidence that regular reciprocal exchanges could strengthen mutual trust and understanding while creating new opportunities for cooperation in education, culture, youth engagement, tourism and public diplomacy.
Representatives of China Window emphasized that Pakistan-China relations already enjoy an exceptional strategic partnership, but greater focus on people-to-people connectivity would provide the friendship with an even stronger social foundation.
Ms. Bai Jie and Chen Tiantang appreciated the initiative and expressed hope that collaborative cultural programs and reciprocal citizen exchanges would make a meaningful contribution to bringing the peoples of Pakistan and China closer and further strengthening the enduring bonds of friendship between the two countries.
