KARACHI, 10 August, 2026 (Nosheen): Sindh Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has announced that the provincial government has deferred its decision to establish a judicial commission to investigate the Mir Raza case following a request from the victim’s parents.The minister said the proposal to form a judicial commission was initially considered to ensure transparency in the investigation and provide confidence to the affected family.However, the family has now expressed trust in the newly constituted investigation team, prompting the provincial government to put the proposed judicial inquiry on hold.According to the Sindh interior minister, the new investigation team will examine the case and proceed with the inquiry in accordance with the law.

The development came after the family’s lawyer, Jibran Nasir, said there was currently no need for a judicial commission to investigate the case. He said Mir Raza’s parents had conveyed their position in writing to the relevant authorities, including the mayor, Sindh interior minister and additional inspector general of police.According to the lawyer, the parents have requested authorities to allow the police investigation team to carry out its work under the law rather than establishing a separate judicial commission at this stage.The family’s decision has changed the circumstances surrounding the proposed judicial inquiry, which had earlier been considered amid concerns over the case and the need for an impartial and transparent investigation.Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar said the purpose of considering a judicial commission was to strengthen transparency and give the affected family confidence in the investigation process. However, after the parents placed their trust in the new investigation team, the provincial government decided to defer the commission.
