ISLAMABAD, August 10, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq met with Member of the European Parliament Ondřej Dostal at Parliament House and discussed Pakistan-EU relations along with important regional and global issues.Ayaz Sadiq said Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with the European Union and stressed the need to further strengthen parliamentary ties and expand cooperation in various fields.He highlighted climate change as a major global challenge, noting that Pakistan is among the countries most affected by its adverse impacts despite having a minimal share in global greenhouse gas emissions. He also termed the Green Parliament Initiative a practical step toward environmental protection and renewable energy promotion.
The Speaker highlighted parliamentary reforms, including the Women Parliamentary Caucus, Parliamentary Caucus for Child Rights and the SDGs Secretariat. He said Pakistan and the EU have significant opportunities for cooperation in education, skills development, training and employment.Ayaz Sadiq reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and said the country preferred dialogue and diplomacy for resolving conflicts. He also highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to ease tensions between Iran and the United States.Ondřej Dostal appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace, parliamentary diplomacy and international cooperation, and emphasized the importance of strong Pakistan-EU relations.
