Pakistan’s Umair Arif Wins Hong Kong Junior Squash Open U-17 Title

HONG KONG, 09 August 2026 (Nosheen): Pakistan’s promising squash player Umair Arif has won the Under-17 title at the Hong Kong Junior Squash Open after defeating England’s Luke McBride 3-2 in a thrilling five-game final, winning 4-11, 11-6, 11-5, 9-11, 11-4. Umair made a strong comeback after losing the opening game, taking the second and third games before McBride levelled the contest by winning the fourth. The Pakistani youngster held his nerve in the deciding game to seal the championship. Umair has previously represented Pakistan at the World Junior Squash Championship and Asian Junior Squash Championship and is also a fellow of the Bilquis and Abdul Razak Dawood Foundation. His victory adds to Pakistan’s growing presence in international junior squash and highlights the country’s emerging young talent in the sport.
