Islamabad, August 7, 2026 (Nosheen): President Asif Ali Zardari has called for broadening Pakistan-Sweden cooperation in renewable energy, sustainable technologies, information technology, agriculture, trade, and skills development to further strengthen bilateral relations and promote mutual economic growth.The President made these remarks during a meeting with Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Sweden, Ahmed Amjad Ali, who called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Friday. Congratulating the Ambassador-designate on his appointment, President Zardari highlighted the longstanding friendly relations between Pakistan and Sweden. He noted that both countries share common views on multilateralism, the rules-based international order, human rights, and democratic values.

The President emphasized that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relationship with Sweden, describing it as an important economic and commercial partner as well as a key member of the European Union, the United Nations, and other international organizations. Referring to the recent growth in bilateral trade, President Zardari encouraged the Ambassador-designate to work towards expanding cooperation in academic exchanges, joint research initiatives, and technical and vocational education through institutional partnerships. He stressed that enhanced collaboration in these sectors would create new opportunities for innovation, investment, and human resource development. President Zardari also expressed confidence that the Ambassador-designate would actively engage with the Pakistani diaspora in Sweden, acknowledging their valuable contribution to Sweden’s development and their important role in promoting Pakistan’s positive image abroad. The meeting reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Sweden through enhanced diplomatic engagement, economic cooperation, educational collaboration, and closer people-to-people ties.
