Dublin, 5 August , 2026 (Nosheen): Oscar-winning Irish singer-songwriter, musician, and actor Glen Hansard has died in a motorcycle accident in Dublin at the age of 56. His management company confirmed that he passed away in the early hours of Wednesday following a road traffic collision. According to the management statement, Hansard was fatally injured in the accident despite the prompt response of emergency services. Irish police also confirmed that a man in his 50s died following a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in west Dublin. Emergency responders were alerted shortly before 4:30 a.m., and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Hansard rose to international fame after winning the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2008 for “Falling Slowly,” the acclaimed duet from the independent film “Once.” The song, performed with his co-star and fellow Oscar winner Marketa Irglova, became one of the most celebrated movie soundtracks of its time.
