Islamabad, 04 August, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff, visited the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), where he was given a comprehensive briefing on Pakistan’s disaster preparedness and the coordinated response arrangements for the ongoing monsoon season. During the briefing, NDMA officials apprised the Chief of Army Staff of the authority’s preparedness measures, risk assessment mechanisms, early warning systems, and ongoing coordination with federal and provincial institutions to effectively respond to monsoon-related emergencies.
Field Marshal Asim Munir emphasized the importance of maintaining a high level of operational readiness, strengthening inter-agency coordination, and ensuring a swift and effective response to protect human lives and critical infrastructure from the impacts of heavy rainfall and flooding. He underscored that timely planning, seamless coordination among all stakeholders, and efficient resource mobilization are essential for minimizing the effects of natural disasters and enhancing national resilience.
Reaffirming the commitment of the Pakistan Armed Forces, the Chief of Army Staff assured that the military remains fully prepared to provide all possible assistance to the civil administration and the National Disaster Management Authority in relief, rescue, and rehabilitation operations whenever required.The visit reflects the Armed Forces’ continued commitment to supporting national disaster management efforts and ensuring the safety and well-being of the people during the ongoing monsoon season.
