Manila, Philippines 22 July 2026(Ghufran): On the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meetings in Manila, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a bilateral meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to discuss bilateral relations and key regional and international developments.
During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the current state of Pakistan-Russia relations and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation across areas of mutual interest. They also exchanged views on regional and global issues, emphasizing the importance of continued dialogue and coordination on matters affecting regional peace, security, and economic development.
The discussions included cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, where both countries continue to work closely on promoting regional stability, counterterrorism, connectivity, and economic collaboration. The ministers also discussed engagement through other international organizations and multilateral forums.
The meeting reflected the growing diplomatic engagement between Pakistan and Russia and underscored both countries’ interest in expanding bilateral cooperation while maintaining close coordination on regional and international issues of shared concern.
The bilateral talks took place on the margins of the ASEAN ministerial meetings in Manila, which brought together foreign ministers and senior diplomats from across the Asia-Pacific region to discuss political, economic, and security challenges facing the region.
