Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Welcomes Successful Conclusion of First High-Level Committee Meeting Under Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding

Bürgenstock, Switzerland, June 22, 2026(Kamran Raja): Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed the successful conclusion of the First High-Level Committee Meeting held under the framework of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Bürgenstock, Switzerland. In a statement, the Prime Minister said that the discussions were conducted in a positive and constructive atmosphere and resulted in significant progress toward advancing dialogue between the participating parties. He noted that the meeting concluded with an agreement on a roadmap aimed at reaching a final deal within the next 60 days, the establishment of a High-Level Committee to provide political oversight, and the initiation of further technical-level negotiations.

Prime Minister Sharif commended the leadership of both the United States and Iran for their continued commitment to constructive engagement and peaceful diplomacy. He also expressed appreciation to all brotherly and friendly countries whose support contributed to advancing the ongoing process. The Prime Minister conveyed special gratitude to Qatar for its critical role in helping create the conditions necessary for the negotiations to move forward. He also thanked the Switzerland government for facilitating and hosting the talks in Bürgenstock.

Highlighting Pakistan’s contribution to the diplomatic initiative, Prime Minister Sharif paid special tribute to Asim Munir for his dedication, commitment, and perseverance, which he said played a vital role in making the talks successful and ensuring progress in the negotiations. The Prime Minister also expressed his warm compliments and heartfelt gratitude to Ishaq Dar and his team at the Foreign Office for their diplomatic efforts. In addition, he praised Mohsin Naqvi for his significant contribution to the success of the talks. Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace and diplomacy, Prime Minister Sharif stated that Pakistan will continue to play an honest and sincere role in promoting dialogue, fostering mutual understanding, and supporting efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful and lasting resolution through diplomatic means.
