Islamabad, 11 May 2026(Kamran Raja): Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the Safe City Headquarters and chaired a special meeting to review progress on the project aimed at transforming Islamabad Safe City into a Capital Smart City.
The Interior Minister directed that the control room be upgraded in line with modern requirements and technology, and instructed authorities to complete Safe City Phase-II within the stipulated timeframe.
“All relevant institutions will be brought onto a single platform under the Safe City project. This initiative will prove to be a major milestone in providing a safe and peaceful environment to the citizens of Islamabad,” said Mohsin Naqvi.

The Interior Minister also inspected the renovation and upgradation work at the Safe City Headquarters. He was briefed on progress regarding the establishment of the Fusion Center and the modern control room. He directed officials to align the control room with modern technological requirements and instructed that Safe City Phase-II be completed within the prescribed deadline.
Mohsin Naqvi stated that all relevant institutions would be integrated onto one platform under the Safe City system, adding that the project would serve as an important milestone in ensuring a secure and peaceful environment for the residents of Islamabad.
During the briefing, officials informed the Interior Minister that work on the Safe City project was progressing rapidly. All necessary equipment has been provided and the installation process is underway. The digital system is expected to become operational by May 30.
The meeting was attended by Federal Secretary Interior Khurram Agha, DG FIA Dr. Usman Anwar, IG Islamabad Police Ali Nasir Rizvi, and other senior officials.
