
Islamabad, 29 April 2026(Kamran Raja): Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi chaired a four-hour-long high-level meeting to review the progress of ongoing public projects and upcoming development initiatives in Islamabad.
During the meeting, a key decision was taken to fully digitize all records of the Capital Development Authority (CDA). The Interior Minister directed that the digitization process be completed within 120 days, enabling citizens to independently track the status of their applications in a transparent and efficient manner.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to regulation and accountability, the Minister stated that illegal housing societies would not be allowed to operate under any circumstances in the federal capital.
The meeting was informed that the pre-qualification process of three international companies for the construction of a new Convention Centre, Expo Centre, and Islamabad Arena has been completed. The Interior Minister directed that these flagship infrastructure projects be completed ahead of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit.
It was further decided to establish a new Khidmat Markaz in the F-6 sector, with land to be allocated for the facility. The Minister also instructed the early launch of modern recreational projects, including Top Golf, hot air balloon rides, zip line, water park, and amusement park facilities to enhance public engagement and tourism.
Highlighting the importance of sports and recreation, Mohsin Naqvi directed the development of modern sports complexes across the city to promote healthy activities among citizens.
The Interior Minister also called for a comprehensive plan to transform Fatima Jinnah Park (F-9 Park) on the model of Hyde Park, along with the development of recreational facilities near Shahdara Dam.
In addition, he ordered the immediate commencement of beautification and modern lighting work along the Islamabad Expressway and Club Road to improve the city’s infrastructure and aesthetics.
The Minister appreciated the efforts of CDA Chairman Suhail Ashraf and Member Estate Zaman Wattoo for exposing a corruption scandal within the authority, reiterating that no leniency would be shown towards individuals involved in corrupt practices.
Earlier, CDA Chairman Suhail Ashraf briefed the meeting in detail, noting that the construction of a service road along the Islamabad Expressway would commence following approval from the Planning Division.
