Pakistan Hosts 2nd Quadrilateral Foreign Ministers’ Meeting; Reaffirms Commitment to Regional Peace and Iran–US Dialogue Facilitation

Islamabad, 29 March 2026(Kamran Raja): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today issued a statement following the conclusion of the 2nd Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt, held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

Opening the statement, the Foreign Minister welcomed his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt, noting that the visiting dignitaries also called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He highlighted that the meeting builds upon the inaugural session held in Riyadh on 19 March 2026.

Key Outcomes of the Meeting

The Foreign Ministers held comprehensive and in-depth discussions on the evolving regional situation, with particular focus on ongoing conflicts and pathways to peace. The participants:

•Expressed deep concern over the devastating humanitarian and economic impact of the ongoing conflict across the region.

•Agreed that continued war serves no party and only leads to further loss of life and destruction.

•Emphasized the critical importance of unity within the Muslim Ummah during these challenging times.

•Reaffirmed their collective commitment to de-escalation, prevention of further military escalation, and the creation of conditions conducive to structured negotiations.

•Underscored that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable means to resolve conflicts and ensure sustainable peace.

•Called for adherence to the principles of the UN Charter, including respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states.

•Discussed avenues to enhance mutual cooperation among the four countries.

Support for Pakistan’s Peace Initiative

Senator Ishaq Dar briefed the participants on Pakistan’s initiative to facilitate potential talks between Iran and the United States in Islamabad. The visiting Foreign Ministers expressed full support for this initiative.

Pakistan welcomed the confidence shown by both Iran and the United States in its role as a facilitator and reiterated its readiness to host meaningful negotiations aimed at achieving a comprehensive and lasting resolution to the conflict.

International Endorsements

The Foreign Minister also shared that:

•Wang Yi, Foreign Minister of China, conveyed strong support for Pakistan’s mediation efforts.

•The Secretary-General of the United Nations expressed full backing for Pakistan’s peace initiative.

•Several international counterparts have extended their support and confidence in Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts.

Pakistan’s Continued Diplomatic Engagement

The statement reaffirmed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan remains actively engaged with regional and global partners, including the United States, to de-escalate tensions and promote peaceful resolution of conflicts.

Concluding the statement, the Foreign Minister emphasized that Pakistan will continue its efforts with sincerity and commitment and called for the prayers and support of the international community to achieve lasting peace in the region.
