
Doha : Tuesday, 24 February, 2026(Kamran Raja): His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed, Minister of State for Foreign Trade of the State of Qatar and Chairman of the Pak-Qatar Joint Business Taskforce, called on the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, during his official visit to Doha this morning. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral trade and economic cooperation and expressed satisfaction over the positive momentum in Pakistan–Qatar relations. The Prime Minister underscored the importance of enhancing bilateral trade volumes and diversifying Pakistan’s exports to Qatar, particularly in agricultural produce, food items, and value-added goods. He emphasized the need to fully capitalize on the existing potential for expanding economic engagement between the two countries.
Both sides discussed follow-up to the 6th Session of the Pakistan–Qatar Joint Ministerial Commission and reaffirmed their commitment to the effective implementation of agreed decisions. Highlighting Pakistan’s investor-friendly reforms, the Prime Minister apprised the Qatari side of the facilitative role being played by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in streamlining procedures and providing a one-window platform for foreign investors.
H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed reiterated Qatar’s keen interest in expanding economic cooperation with Pakistan and strengthening private-sector partnerships and business-to-business linkages. The two sides agreed to convene a meeting of the Joint Business Taskforce, comprising relevant officials from both countries, within the month of Ramadan to deliberate on concrete and mutually beneficial investment proposals for Qatari investment in Pakistan.
The meeting underscored the shared resolve of both leaderships to further deepen trade, investment, and industrial collaboration between Pakistan and Qatar. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi were also present during the meeting.
