Islamabad, 13 August 2025(Kamran Raja): President Asif Ali Zardari has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to further deepening its brotherly relations with Azerbaijan, rooted in mutual trust, shared values, and common aspirations.
Speaking during a meeting with the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, Mr. Khazar Farhadov, at Aiwan-e-Sadr today, the President highlighted Azerbaijan’s significance as a key partner for Pakistan and underscored the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade, economy, and connectivity. He noted that stronger trade links, investment partnerships, and improved regional connectivity would bring the two nations closer and contribute to shared prosperity.
President Zardari congratulated Ambassador Farhadov on the historic peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, extending his felicitations to President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan. He expressed hope that the accord would usher in lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. He reiterated Pakistan’s belief in resolving disputes through dialogue and peaceful means, grounded in mutual understanding and respect.
Welcoming the operationalization of direct air links between the two countries, the President termed it a significant step toward boosting trade, tourism, and people-to-people contacts.
President Zardari also conveyed Pakistan’s gratitude to Azerbaijan for its steadfast support for the just cause of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, particularly as a valued member of the OIC Contact Group.
