New York, 16 August 2025(Ghufran): The United Nations today confirmed that the 80th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 80) will officially open on Tuesday, 9 September 2025 at UN Headquarters in New York.
The high-level General Debate, which annually gathers Heads of State and Government, ministers, and world leaders from across the globe, will commence on Tuesday, 23 September 2025. This week-long event serves as the world’s most prominent multilateral platform for discussing global challenges, international peace and security, sustainable development, and pressing humanitarian concerns.
In keeping with tradition, the President-elect of the General Assembly will preside over the opening session, followed by speeches from global leaders in the General Debate. Delegations from 193 Member States, observer missions, and intergovernmental organizations are expected to attend.
