Rome, 25 October, 2026 (Kamran Raja): AS Roma maintained their unbeaten run in Serie A after Leonardo Balerdi scored a dramatic 89th-minute equaliser to secure a thrilling 3-3 draw against Napoli on Saturday, while Lazio climbed to the top of the league table with a victory over Parma. Roma, managed by Gian Piero Gasperini, remain in third place, four points behind Lazio, who hold a three-point advantage over reigning champions Inter Milan ahead of their match against Fiorentina on Sunday. Napoli took the lead in the 28th minute when Frank Anguissa scored a spectacular bicycle kick following a free-kick. Scott McTominay doubled Napoli’s advantage shortly after half-time with a header from Matteo Politano’s cross. However, Roma fought back as Matias Soule ended his seven-game goal drought with a fine long-range strike to reduce the deficit. Substitute Balerdi then levelled the score four minutes later by finishing from close range after a corner. McTominay appeared to have secured victory for Napoli with an excellent low shot in the 83rd minute, but Balerdi struck again in the closing moments to preserve Roma’s unbeaten start to the league campaign, now extended to eight matches. Roma coach Gasperini praised his players’ composure and the impact of the substitutes, saying the team had shown strong character despite Napoli’s dominance in the first half. Napoli remain ninth in the standings, 11 points behind Lazio, after dropping points in another closely contested encounter.
