Trump Sending Message to Iran Through Kharg Island Post, Says Vance

WASHINGTON, Aug 31 (Nosheen): US President Donald Trump was sending a message to Iran through his social media post about Iran’s key energy hub, Kharg Island, being blown “to smithereens,” Vice President JD Vance said on Monday. Speaking about Trump’s post, Vance said the president sometimes uses social media to send messages, while noting that Trump would be the first to say that military actions are not announced through social media. “I think that he’s sending a message to the Iranians,” Vance said when asked about the post. Trump’s one-line social media post on Sunday was accompanied by an AI-generated video clip. However, a US official said on Monday that the US military had not targeted Kharg Island in its overnight strikes. An Iranian official dismissed Trump’s post as “laughable.” Kharg Island is a major hub for Iran’s oil exports and handled around 90 percent of the country’s oil exports before the war launched by US and Israeli attacks on February 28. Any attack on the island could severely disrupt Iran’s energy trade and place significant pressure on its economy.Meanwhile, describing the first known US military strikes since late July, a US official said American forces had attacked two Iranian launchers on Larak Island.
