Senate Commerce Committee Calls for Stronger Policy Reforms and implementation of Prime Minister’s Directives
Islamabad, 11 September 2025 (kamran Raja): The Senate Standing Committee on Commerce, chaired by Senator Anusha Rahman, reviewed multiple agenda items focusing on trade facilitation, regulatory frameworks, and institutional mechanisms critical to Pakistan’s trade growth.The Committee examined the status of the Badini Border opening and expressed concern over delays in opening of border despite commitments from the Ministry to open the same by 12 September 2025. The crossing, inaugurated in September 2020, remains non-functional after 10 months of its opening due to poor road conditions, lack of basic amenities, and inadequate support from the Afghan side.
