Pakistan Urges Decisive International Action to Avert Humanitarian Collapse in Haiti
United Nations, August 28, 2025(Ghufran Majeed): With Haiti’s humanitarian crisis deepening to perilous levels, Pakistan has called on the UN Security Council to act urgently and decisively to prevent the country from descending into complete collapse.In a national statement delivered during the Council’s briefing on Haiti, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, described the situation as “a convergence of governance collapse, rampant gang violence, and a humanitarian emergency of immense proportions.”He stressed that the international community could no longer turn a blind eye to the suffering of the Haitian people, particularly children, who bear the heaviest burden of the crisis. “Silence and indifference would condemn millions of Haitians...
