Pakistan Supports UN Resolution on DRC, Calls for Peaceful Resolution of the Conflict
United Nations, February 21, 2025(Ghufran): Pakistan has stated that the adoption of the resolution by consensus on DRC reaffirms Security Council’s strong commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and upholds the UN Charter principles.
Explaining why Pakistan voted in favor of the resolution, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Alternate Permanent Representative to the U.N., said that more importantly, the resolution welcomes and supports the regional efforts and processes, and high-level engagements led by the African Union and other sub-regional organizations to bring peace to the DRC.
