Sylvester Stallone Calls Wars Foolish, Says Arms Industry Profits From Conflict

NEW YORK, 29 September, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Hollywood superstar Sylvester Stallone has described wars as “foolish,” arguing that armed conflicts cause widespread destruction while generating huge profits for military industries and weapons manufacturers. In an interview with The New York Times, the 80-year-old actor said wars ultimately harm both sides, with young soldiers losing their lives and suffering life-changing physical injuries. Stallone acknowledged that countries have the right to defend themselves when attacked, but said he did not want to turn his comments into a political debate. He warned that wars can create painful and lasting consequences, including deep-rooted hostilities that continue for generations and the destruction of countries and communities. Reflecting on his own earlier views, Stallone said there was a time when he strongly supported war, but he now considers that position a result of his naivety. He argued that war should not be romanticised, saying that he sees little honour or heroism in armed conflict and emphasising the devastating human cost suffered by those caught in wars.
