Riyadh, December 23, 2025(Kamran Raja): The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has achieved a new global environmental milestone by earning a Guinness World Records title for the largest seasonal seed storage collection in the world, underscoring its strong commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.
The landmark achievement crowns a year of intensive efforts led by the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification. Throughout the year, trained and specialized field teams traveled across the Kingdom to collect extensive quantities of native plant seeds in support of land rehabilitation projects and long-term environmental sustainability initiatives.
As part of this nationwide effort, field teams successfully collected seeds from 31 species of local wild plants. The seeds were subjected to meticulous processing procedures, including cleaning and purification to remove impurities and plant residues, before being stored in accordance with the highest internationally recognized standards.
In total, seed warehouses across the Kingdom now house more than 95 tons of rangeland and wild plant seeds, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s leadership in environmental action. The initiative directly supports the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, particularly in the areas of natural resource protection, vegetation cover development, and combating desertification.
Saudi Arabia has recorded numerous environmental milestones at the national, regional, and global levels as part of its broader strategy to promote sustainability. These efforts align with Saudi Vision 2030 and international goals aimed at combating desertification and mitigating the impacts of climate change.
