PTA Successfully Concludes Assignment Stage of NGMS / 5G Spectrum Auction

Islamabad, 12 March 2026 ( Kamran Raja): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has successfully completed the Assignment Stage of the Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) / 5G Spectrum Auction, marking a significant step toward the introduction of 5G services across Pakistan.

During this stage, the specific frequency positions within the auctioned spectrum bands were finalized, enabling participating mobile network operators to effectively plan and deploy their next-generation networks.

In the 2600 MHz band, Jazz secured 70 MHz, while Zong and Ufone acquired 60 MHz each. In the 3500 MHz band, Ufone obtained 120 MHz, while Jazz and Zong secured 50 MHz each, with 60 MHz of spectrum remaining unsold.

The auction generated a total of $509.6 million (approximately PKR 142.6 billion) for the national exchequer. Jazz secured spectrum worth $239.38 million, followed by Ufone with $156.75 million, and Zong with $113.47 million.

With the successful completion of the assignment stage, operators can now proceed with detailed network planning and infrastructure deployment. This development will facilitate the gradual rollout of 5G services in Pakistan, enhancing connectivity, enabling innovation, and supporting the country’s digital transformation.

The PTA reaffirmed its commitment to promoting advanced telecommunications technologies and ensuring that Pakistan remains on track toward a digitally connected future.
