Makkah, 07 August , 2026 (Nosheen): Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye are expected to sign a landmark joint defence agreement during a trilateral summit in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, marking a significant step towards enhancing regional security cooperation amid evolving geopolitical challenges in the Middle East. According to media reports, the proposed defence pact is aimed at strengthening strategic coordination and defence collaboration among the three brotherly nations in response to the rapidly changing regional security environment. The initiative comes at a time of heightened tensions following the conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran, which has disrupted regional stability and affected maritime trade through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. Pakistan has continued to play a constructive diplomatic role by advocating dialogue and peaceful engagement to help de-escalate tensions and promote regional peace and stability. The country has consistently emphasized diplomacy as the only viable path to resolving conflicts in the Middle East.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, is currently on an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from August 6 to 8 at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. During the visit, the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal performed Umrah and offered prayers for the peace, stability and prosperity of Pakistan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the wider Muslim Ummah.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye is also expected to arrive in the Kingdom to participate in the trilateral summit, where the three leaders are anticipated to discuss regional security, defence cooperation, counter-terrorism collaboration, and strategic economic partnerships.The expected signing of the joint defence agreement is being viewed as a milestone in strengthening trilateral relations and reinforcing collective efforts to promote peace, stability and security across the region.
