ISLAMABAD, 27 September, 2026 (Nosheen): Pakistan has rejected allegations by the Afghan Taliban regime linking Islamabad to the reported violence in Nuristan, describing the claims as frivolous, baseless and without any truth. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said Pakistan categorically rejects allegations that its security forces or intelligence agencies were involved in internal clashes in Nuristan or elsewhere in Afghanistan, including claims of recruiting or training former Afghan security personnel or facilitating Daesh or other terrorist groups operating in Afghanistan. The ministry said no evidence had been presented to substantiate Pakistan’s alleged involvement, including identities, documents, communications, forensic evidence or independent verification. It noted that the presence and activities of various terrorist groups inside Afghanistan have been documented in reports by the United Nations and other international organisations. The ministry said attempts to link Pakistan to the violence could not obscure what it described as the continued presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan. It urged the Afghan Taliban regime to take credible and verifiable action against terrorist organisations operating from Afghan territory and fulfil its commitments that Afghan soil would not be used for terrorism against Pakistan or any other country. The ministry also said the allegations reflected an attempt by the Taliban regime to shift responsibility for internal security challenges and criticism over its treatment of women, children and minorities.
