
United Nations, October 27, 2025(Kamran Raja): Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, delivered a statement at the seminar commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Taiwan’s Recovery and Upholding the Authority of General Assembly Resolution 2758, held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Extending warm congratulations to Ambassador Fu Cong, Permanent Representative of the People’s Republic of China, and to the Government and people of China, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar marked the 54th anniversary of the restoration of China’s rightful place in the United Nations through the adoption of General Assembly Resolution 2758. He termed the resolution a landmark event that reaffirmed the principles of sovereignty, dignity, and equality among nations.
Ambassador Asim emphasized that the Government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole and legitimate representative of the whole of China, and that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China. He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering adherence to the One-China Principle, describing Pakistan and China as “all-weather strategic cooperative partners and ironclad friends.”
Highlighting China’s constructive role in promoting international peace, security, and development since its restoration to the UN, Ambassador Asim noted that under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, China has emerged as a key champion of multilateralism and global cooperation. He commended China’s initiatives — including the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative, and Global Governance Initiative — as vital contributions toward building a “Community with a Shared Future for Mankind.” Ambassador Asim reaffirmed that Pakistan deeply values China’s leadership in revitalizing multilateral diplomacy and pledged Pakistan’s continued support and cooperation in the pursuit of global peace, stability, and shared prosperity.
