Riyadh, November 9, 2025(Kamran Raja): The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) announced the remarkable success of the One Million Saudis in AI (SAMAI) initiative, which has trained more than one million Saudi citizens, both men and women, in artificial intelligence (AI) skills. Of these participants, 9% are working-age Saudis who have earned AI skills certificates, underscoring the program’s impact on the national workforce. Described as one of the largest AI training initiatives globally, SAMAI has distinguished itself by offering simplified Arabic-language content that surpasses many regional and international programs in accessibility and reach. The initiative’s free access and official certification from SDAIA provide significant academic and market value, setting it apart from non-accredited AI training programs worldwide. Launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, SAMAI aims to empower Saudi citizens with essential AI skills and strengthen their readiness for the digital future. The program directly supports the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which identifies technology and innovation as vital drivers of sustainable development and a knowledge-based economy.
Initially targeting one million participants over three years, SAMAI achieved its goal in less than a year, attracting over 1.2 million registrants from across the Kingdom. This rapid adoption reflects the initiative’s effectiveness in enhancing national capabilities in line with global AI trends. SAMAI serves as a model initiative regionally and globally, guiding learners through a comprehensive educational journey—from the origins of AI technologies to their real-world applications, ethical considerations, and future developments. Its engaging visual content, simple language, and flexible online format have made it accessible to students, employees, job seekers, and technology enthusiasts alike. Through this initiative, participants have gained a solid understanding of AI concepts, applications, ethics, and practical tools, empowering them to integrate AI safely and effectively into their professional and daily lives.
SDAIA reaffirmed that SAMAI represents a strategic investment in developing the Kingdom’s human capital and advancing Saudi Arabia’s ambition to become a global leader in technology and innovation, in alignment with the nation’s leadership and Vision 2030 objectives.
