Lahore, 21 September, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Pakistan wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan has reportedly been barred from speaking to the media amid an ongoing inquiry by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), according to sources. Sources said Rizwan had sought permission from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to address the media, but the board declined his request on two occasions. According to the sources, the PCB maintained that Rizwan’s case was currently under investigation by the NCCIA and questioned how he could be allowed to make public statements while the inquiry was ongoing. Rizwan reportedly wanted to present his position, respond to the allegations against him and explain the details of a letter he had written to the International Cricket Council (ICC) in connection with the matter. Sources said Rizwan sought permission under the terms of his central contract, but the PCB rejected the request. Clause 4.1 of the central contract requires players to obtain permission before making public statements on matters covered by the agreement, while Rizwan reportedly sought to invoke Clause 16, which provides for mutual cooperation between the PCB and the player. According to sources, Rizwan did not intend to make allegations against the PCB or any other organisation, but wanted to explain his position and outline the sequence of events to the public. The NCCIA inquiry was reportedly launched during Pakistan’s England series and is linked to alleged dressing-room leaks during the tour. On September 7, the PCB said it had initiated an internal disciplinary inquiry following media reports concerning discipline and conduct. Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq were subsequently barred from participating in the President’s Trophy Grade-I domestic first-class tournament on September 11.
