Islamabad July 6, 2025(Kamran Raja): Minister of State for Finance and Railways and Head of Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit Bilal Azhar Kayani, during his visit to his constituency Jhelum, reviewed the main processions of Muharram-ul-Haram and administrative efforts in detail. Deputy Commissioner Maysam Abbas and DPO Muhammad Tariq Aziz briefed the Minister of State on the arrangements made for the security, cleanliness, medical facilities and convenience of the processions and the mourners.
The Minister of State inspected the main procession route at Civil Lines and directly observed the arrangements across the city from the Safe City Control Room. He appreciated the arrangements for the sabils, temporary medical centres, continuous cleaning measures (especially the “Suthra Punjab” teams) and the surveillance system through modern technology. The district administration officials informed about the mechanism for timely monitoring of safety measures through cameras and data analytics.
The Minister of State thanked the members of the peace committee, procession organizers, and scholars for their cooperation in the meeting, and spoke directly to the mourners to get their views on the arrangements. Bilal Azhar Kayani, recalling the sanctity of Muharram, said: “The sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), the Ahlul Bayt (AS) and their 72 loyal companions is a shining example of bravery, truthfulness and uncompromising principles. The Supreme Imam (AS) taught an eternal lesson of not bowing down to oppression.” The Minister of State termed the arrangements in Punjab as “the best in the history of the province” and appreciated the new tradition established under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He also paid special tribute to the security forces, Rescue 1122 personnel and the district administration personnel for their tireless services.
