London, 24 September, 2026 (Nosheen): A 40-year-old man has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison by a British court for producing and selling counterfeit vinyl records bearing the names of renowned international singers and musicians and earning millions of pounds from the illegal business. Rehan Ahmed allegedly operated the illicit business for nearly seven years, making more than £2.7 million in profits during that period. According to British authorities, Ahmed produced and sold counterfeit music records featuring more than 108 artists, including The Beatles, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Adele, Ariana Grande, Drake, Beyoncé and Rihanna. The operation came to light after representatives of the music industry secretly purchased records from his warehouse and discovered during examination that they were counterfeit. Police later raided the warehouse in Acton, London, and seized 2,791 counterfeit vinyl records, which British police described as the country’s largest-ever seizure of fake vinyl records in a single operation. During the raid, officers also confiscated four vinyl pressing machines believed to be around 70 years old, 3,000 metal stampers, and thousands of record covers and labels, with the total seized material weighing approximately 18 tonnes. Authorities said Ahmed had taken advantage of the renewed popularity of vinyl records to establish an organized counterfeit business, causing financial losses to artists, record labels and legitimate music retailers.
