
ISLAMABAD, 27 September, 2026 (Nosheen): Pakistani actor Mahira Khan has shared an emotional note for director Wajahat Hussain ahead of the premiere of Mitti De Baway, expressing gratitude for his work on the drama and for shaping her character Billo. Written by Faiza Iftikhar and directed by Hussain, the drama marks Mahira Khan and Wahaj Ali’s first on-screen pairing. Sharing a behind-the-scenes photograph with Hussain and Ali, Mahira wrote that the director believed in Billo and understood the character deeply, signing off with the words, “Love alwayssss, your Billo.” Hussain reshared the note on his Instagram story, saying it had truly touched his heart and describing their collaboration as a memorable journey. Actor Yumna Zaidi also wished the team success, saying that beautiful things come from hard work and perseverance. Set in rural Punjab in 1999, Mitti De Baway follows Billo and Baala through a romance that ends in separation after Baala is imprisoned on an undisclosed charge. When the story resumes in 2002, Billo has transformed into a pir, or spiritual guide, with a following of her own, while Baala returns after years in prison. The drama’s trailers and teasers have generated excitement among members of Pakistan’s entertainment industry, with several actors praising the project and expressing anticipation for the series. Later teasers have also hinted at past marriages, unresolved secrets and the possibility of Billo and Baala reconnecting after years apart. The collaboration between Mahira Khan and Wahaj Ali has emerged as one of the key attractions of the highly anticipated drama.
