Kashmir Issue Must Be Resolved Through UN Resolutions, Says Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon


Washington, D.C., 28 September 2026(Kamran Raja): Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, has said that Pakistan and Kashmiris are “one soul in two bodies” and that Pakistan will continue to extend its moral, diplomatic and political support to the people of Kashmir.

Speaking to media representatives at the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, D.C., Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon said Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had presented Pakistan’s position on the Kashmir issue clearly before the international community during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

He said member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group had also strongly supported Pakistan’s position on Kashmir during the recent UN General Assembly session.

Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon said Kashmir is an international issue and its resolution is possible through the implementation of the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and in accordance with the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people.

He said lasting peace and security in South Asia is linked to a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

The Chairman said his visit to Washington following participation in the 81st UN General Assembly session was aimed at drawing the attention of the international community towards a lasting and sustainable solution to the Kashmir issue.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh said that the people of Indian-administered Kashmir had faced serious challenges and human rights concerns for decades. He said the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs could not be forgotten.

Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh said the unresolved status of the Kashmir dispute remains an important international issue in the context of international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions. He said Pakistan would continue to present its position on Kashmir at international forums on the basis of law and historical record.

The Ambassador emphasized that sustained attention to the economy and politics, along with continuous hard work, was essential for achieving national objectives. He reiterated that Pakistan would continue its moral, diplomatic and political support for the people of Kashmir.
